For young job hunters, the upside of the recession and downswing in jobs is the rise of the number of informational resources. With the dire job market a dominating news story and political talking point, news networks and private corporations are offering advice in websites, articles and websites devoted to helping the jobless.
Lindsey Pollak, author of Getting from College to Career, has written for Fast Company and is frequently interviewed for her job hunting expertise (she has also twittered about Steal This Job). Now, PriceWaterhouseCoopers has started a website featuring videos of Pollak's tips. Students can also have their questions answered on the site. It's really worth a look and offers good ideas on keeping up with the herd, by following up on networking contacts, staying organized, and updating the old resume.
Also, if you are living in the US, check out CNN's job fairs map to see where you might be able to shill a few resumes and shake a few hands.
