The New York Times reported this week on an increase in enrollment in vocational schools, as well as "white-collar" for-profit colleges. Some for-profit schools are attempting to respond to the dire job market with better perks for students. According to the article, DeVry University (with the motto "We major in careers") is offering scholarships for students who have been laid off to help with financial support until their next job.

there's a lot more info at this website on vocational careers, in case anyone is interested.
