Do something every day--for instance, write a song about Paul Krugman

One of the best job hunting tips that I have heard lately is to do something for your job search every day. On busy or uninspired days, this may seem like a tall order. But take inspiration from this guy, Jonathan Mann, who is writing a new song and posting it online every day (where potential employers can see his skills in action). The ditties are kooky and actually very entertaining in a "Flight of the Conchords" kind of way, especially given the low production input. My personal faves are the ode to Paul Krugman and "From My Front Door, Vol. 1"

Making money with Facebook

Facebook applications are the new playground for young media entrepeneurs. The Chicago Sun-Times profiles one such business pioneer.

Keith Schacht is a 29-year-old creative visionary who has spent the last decade starting and growing multiple Internet-based businesses. His latest, Crafted Fun Inc., develops online games that are played within Facebook and other social networks. The company's titles, which include "Growing Gifts" and "Hatching Eggs," attract more than 4 million visitors per month.

The emergence of new social networking tools, applications and search engines is definitely on the rise. I will be speaking with another young member of a start-up that helps to compile information and posts on blogs, social networks and other online locations to be easily searched by friends and contacts.
